What is grief ?

 

Grief is a strong, sometimes overwhelming emotion for people. Grief is the natural reaction to loss and everyone deals with it differently. You may have days when simple life activities seem impossible and other days they seem more manageable. It is normal to experience periods of moving froward and backwards as you work through the loss of a loved one. Here at The Kenny Funeral Home we are dedicated to helping you through this and are always here to offer support.

The grieving process

 

There are five stages to the grieving process. Denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance, are a part of the framework that makes up our learning to live with the one we lost. They are tools to help us frame and identify what we may be feeling. It

Helping yourself heal

 

Don't judge yourself for how you feel. Anger, loneliness, frustration, exhaustion, fear and even relief are normal feelings when dealing with a loss.

Keep yourself surrounded by a support system, this can be other family members, friends or even a therapist. Seeing a grief counselor may help too. Finding a new activity or hobby to get you out and about is a great way to start the healing process.
